Servigiller (Cupressaceae) familyasından Juniperus cinsine ait çam ailesinden iğne yapraklı ağaç ve çalı formundaki taksonların ortak adı. Kuzey Amerika'nın doğusunda doğal yayılış gösterir. 30m´ye kadar boy, 1.2m´ye kadar çap yapabilir. Pul yapraklıdır ancak gençlikte hatta çoğu kez yaşlı bireylerde de iğne yapraklara rastlanmaktadır. Mavi yeşil renktedir.Ardıç tohumları pek çok hastalığın tedavisinde "bitkisel ilaç" olarak yaygın bir biçimde kullanılmaktadır.
